Day Trip to Essex, CT

We visited the small town of Essex, Connecticut.  It was a nice place to walk around and take pictures.  I understand that the biggest event they have is the Eagle Festival which occurs in February.  20,000 people descend on Essex for the festival.

This is "Essex Town Square".  Huge.

This is the structure in the middle of "Essex Town Square"  As we approached, we were looking for a sign.  Apparently we found one.

This is Main St.

As you can see, Essex is a really pretty place.  I bet it is prettier when leaves are on the trees.

This is the Connecticut River Museum.  They wanted six bucks admission.  We didn't go in.  I hope we didn't miss anything life changing.

This is the First Baptist Church.  A guy with a great last name, Rob Hathaway, showed us around and gave us a history lesson.

This is a relic from the early church.  I'm pretty sure the original 11 apostles used a device very similar to this.  Apparently these numbers refer to songs in a book.  The members of the church supposedly read the words and followed the music in that book.  It must have been shortly after that when they started using projectors and singing "Shout to the Lord".

This is a view from the marina where we ate lunch.

I think this is art.

I ran out of quippy things to say.  This is a tugboat.

There we some people feeding the ducks near the dock.  These wer particularly photogenic.

On the way out of town we visited the Essex Steam Train.  They actually have a running steam train there.  They were closed for the season when we visited but we got a couple of snaps.

That was our day in Essex.  If you happen to be in Connecticut, it is a nice day trip.
